An all-year-round jacket,
This is my second Paclite jacket. The last one still exists, is around three year’s old and doesn’t leak.
I’ve bought another because the old one just looks a little bit ‘worn’ (which it would, because I’ve worn
it to work pretty well every day since I bought it).
That’s the reason I chose the same jacket again; because it can be worn every day, either over a
light-weight shirt, or with several layers (I buy a size to cope with the extra diameter!).
Over time, the water repellant treatment deteriorates but can be rejuvenated by tumble drying the jacket
on a low setting.
So there we are; I recommend you get one if you’re looking for a light-weight durable (and presentable)
breathable waterproof.

|Berghaus Mens Paclite Goretex,
Folds up nice and small in the supplied bag so adding little weight to a rucksack. Provides a good windproof third layer with two thin baselayers during the autumn, will require a fleece as the winter sets in. I havn’t yet had to test the jacket out during heavy rain so cannot comment on it’s waterproof quality, will happily write a further review later. The zip is the double type, one facing done and one up. I could never see the point of these and it makes zipping from open a little awkward. I’ve resolved this by leaving the coat zipped up and putting it over my head. I think this would be quicker anyway during a sudden downpoor. The hood is nicely stored in the collar, unfolds easily and has a peak which is handy if like me you wear spectacles.

|A questionable investment…,
Waterproofing is great, but it does not breathe enough if you are running so perspiration can build up in the jacket.
For less active use it is great.
